...for a climate-neutral Berlin by 2030
....because this will reliably provide Berlin with significantly cheaper energy
...because it will make Berlin more liveable and competitive.

A referendum will be held on 26.03.23 to decide whether Berlin should become climate-neutral by 2030. In this context, a Berlin business association has claimed that a climate-neutral Berlin by 2030 cannot be financed or implemented. We strongly disagree with this!

As Berlin entrepreneurs, we support the initiative for a climate-neutral Berlin 2030, thereby helping to ensure that the limit of no more than 1.5°C of global warming is adhered to. At the same time, we support the rapid and consistent switch to renewable energies - solar, wind, biomass and geothermal energy - and the path towards a digitalized, energy- and resource-efficient circular economy for Berlin-Brandenburg.

This enables secure access to emission-free energy at significantly lower and stable prices. A progressive and digitalized Berlin with lower energy costs, innovative mobility concepts and a green inner city makes our location more attractive for companies and employees from all over the world. It also leads to the development of new technologies, innovations and jobs. This is why over 100 cities in Europe alone are already taking part in the EU's 2030 climate neutrality program - including Paris, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Rome and Dublin. Money spent on climate-damaging fossil fuel imports is irretrievably lost. But money for Berlin's climate neutrality is an investment in a secure future that pays off many times over.
